Automotive Key Programming

As most people know, today’s vehicles have become increasingly technologically advanced.  This also includes your vehicle’s security system.  All vehicles sold today, other than law enforcement, have some type of security system that prevents the vehicle from being operated without a programmed ignition key.  Some are still blade style keys but others have gone to proximity type keys and use a push button to start the car.  These keys can be very expensive to replace when going to a locksmith or the dealership and that is why Petty Motorworks has added this to our skillset.

NASTF stands for National Automotive Security Taskforce and it was founded to create a secure platform that automotive manufacturers can use to ensure that sensitive vehicle security information does not end up in the hands of bad actors.

A VSP is a Vehicle Security Professional and can only be attained through NASTF.  In order for a person to become a VSP the business and the individual have to go through extensive background and financial checks.  You cannot get a VSP without being an employee of a licensed business with a good reputation and in good financial standing.  This is renewed every year and it is not only required to program high security vehicle keys but the modules associated with them such as your engine control computer.

Tom Petty, the owner of Petty Motorworks has always been a highly respected diagnostic technician and felt that it was the logical choice to grow the business's capabilities by including high security automotive keys and remotes. Petty Motorworks has invested in training, equipment and inventory as well as having performed all the needed tasks to meet the highest ethical standards set forth by NASTF in order to serve our customers appropriately.
