Thanksgiving Travel

 

A smooth Thanksgiving journey, which is only a month away, starts with a well-maintained vehicle. Every Holiday we try to accommodate all of our customer who are preparing to travel but often people wait too long and there are no appointments available.  Please don't wait to make your appointment. Considerations:

• Schedule a Pre-Trip Inspection: Our awesome team here at Petty Motorworks can identify potential problems and address them before your trip.
• Plan for Winter Weather: If you're traveling to colder regions, ensure your vehicle is equipped with winter tires, antifreeze, and a scraper.

Essential Checks which are part of our "Courtesy Digital Vehicle Inspection":

• Tires:
  • Check tire pressure (cold, before driving).
  • Inspect for wear, uneven tread, or damage.
  • Rotate and Balance tires as needed.
• Fluids:
  • Check engine oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, coolant, and power steering fluid levels.
  • Replace fluids at the scheduled intervals.
• Belts and Hoses:
  • Inspect for cracks, wear, or fraying.
• Lights:
  • Test all lights, including headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, and hazard lights.
• Battery:
  • Have it tested to ensure it can handle the cold weather and long drive.
• Windshield Wipers:
  • Replace blades if they're streaking or worn.
• Emergency Kit:
  • Stock your kit with essential items like jumper cables, a flashlight, first aid supplies, and a spare tire. One thing that can really be a life saver is a tire inflator.  Here is a link to Amazon that shows all of the choices available.

Petty Honeyworks

I would like to announce a brand new non-profit organization with a focus on our communities unhoused youth. Choose Love Celebrate Life CLCL Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) formed in late 2023 to tackle a void in our community. They will be opening a youth shelter in January 2025, serving youth in Ocean and Monmouth counties. I have come to know this organization through my wife Cathy, who currently volunteers as an advisory board member. Cathy is a licensed social worker, and has primarily been working with children for most of her career. Some of you may also know that I am an amateur bee keeper. People are always asking me if I sell my honey. I usually just give it to friends and family but this year I am offering it to anyone who donates to this needy organization. I have about 60 jars of honey ready to go and I am accepting cash donations at the shop. Petty Motorworks will match every cash dollar donated! Food Drive

Petty Motorworks has been a Scouting Family for decades and one of my favorite things was to participate in Scouting For Food.  Each year local Scout Troop and Packs put bags on porches on one Saturday and the following Saturday we would drive the neighborhood and look for the bright yellow bags filled with food to help support our local pantries.  This year we will be running our own drive and all the collected food will be relayed to St. Stephen's right here in Waretown to support their pantry. We will have a collection box in our office for anyone wanting to drop off canned and shelf stable goods.  It can also include toiletries and personal hygiene items.
